Né en 1984, Pierre-Fabien Roubaty entame son apprentissage musical en étudiant le piano au Conservatoire de Fribourg tout en découvrant le monde du chant à la maîtrise de Villars-sur-Glâne. En 2006, il se lance dans la direction chorale en fondant le chœur Arsis, qu'il dirige toujours avec passion. À la tête de cet ensemble principalement dédié à la musique des XVIIIème et XIXème siècles, il s'illustre dans l’interprétation des grandes œuvres du répertoire d'oratorio, couronné par la victoire au Concours Choral de Fribourg en 2011.

 

Pierre-Fabien Roubaty a eu le privilège d'apprendre auprès de maîtres de renom pendant ses études à la Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, notamment Marc Pantillon, Todd Camburn et Anthony di Giantomasso. Il a ensuite poursuivi ses études en direction d'orchestre à la Hochschule der Künste de Berne, bénéficiant des enseignements précieux de Florian Ziemen et Ralf Weikert. 

 

Comme chef de choeur ou répétiteur, il a préparé des chœurs et des solistes pour de nombreuses productions d'opéra et d’oratorio et rencontre à ces occasions de nombreux musiciens de renom, tels que Michel Corboz, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Raphaël Pichon, Marc Minkovski, Daniel Reuss, Christa Ludwig ou encore Ramón Vargas. 

 

En septembre 2019, Pierre-Fabien Roubaty a été nommé directeur artistique et musical de l'Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. Sous sa direction, l'ensemble a porté à la scène des projets exceptionnels, notamment les commémorations des 100 ans du Roi David d’Arthur Honegger, la création de l’oratorio Splendor de Théo Flury, et des prestigieuses performances dans le cadre de la Folle Journée de Nantes. Il a également dirigé l'ensemble lors de sa participation au Festival Via aeterna au Mont-St-Michel, à l'occasion du millénaire de cet emblématique site.

 

En 2024, Pierre-Fabien Roubaty aura l'honneur d'être le chef invité à la fois de l'Apollo Chorus de Chicago et du chœur de la fondation OSESP de São Paulo.

Born in 1984, Pierre-Fabien Roubaty began his musical apprenticeship studying piano at the Conservatoire de Fribourg, while discovering the world of singing at the Villars-sur-Glâne choir school. In 2006, he launched his career as a choral conductor by founding the Arsis choir, which he continues to lead with great passion. At the head of this ensemble, mainly dedicated to music of the 18th and 19th centuries, he excels in the interpretation of the great works of the oratorio repertoire, winning the Fribourg Choral Competition in 2011.

 

Pierre-Fabien Roubaty had the privilege of learning from renowned masters during his studies at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, including Marc Pantillon, Todd Camburn and Anthony di Giantomasso. He then continued his studies in orchestral conducting at the Hochschule der Künste in Berne, benefiting from the invaluable teachings of Florian Ziemen and Ralf Weikert. 

 

As a choral conductor or vocal caoch he has prepared choirs and soloists for numerous opera and oratorio productions, meeting many renowned musicians such as Michel Corboz, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Raphaël Pichon, Marc Minkovski, Daniel Reuss, Christa Ludwig and Ramón Vargas. 

 

In September 2019, Pierre-Fabien Roubaty was appointed artistic and musical director of the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. Under his direction, the ensemble has brought exceptional projects to the stage, including the 100th anniversary commemorations of Arthur Honegger's Roi David, the premiere of Theo Flury's oratorio Splendor, and prestigious performances as part of La Folle Journée de Nantes. He also conducted the ensemble during its participation in the Via aeterna Festival at Mont-St-Michel, to mark the millennium of this emblematic site.
